WineX/Cedega from CVS
If you don't want to spend 5 bucks on WineX/Cedega, you can always try compile it yourself.

Important, in order to install WineX/Cedega from CVS you must have CVS installed on your computer.

Download
Go to http://transgaming.org/cvs for the downloading instructions.

Installation

After downloading you will see that you have a directory called winex.
Enter this directory and type (as root):
./tools/wineinstall
WineX will now try to compile.

Configuration

You need a so called fake windows drive and a configuration file.
You can download a complete Wine configuration here: http://frankscorner.org/files/winex_drive.tgz
Untar the file in your HOME directory. You will now have a directory called .wine. In this directory you will find the fake windows drive (c_drive) and the configuration file (config).
All games will be installed in ~/.wine/c_drive.

Installing games
Installing a game is easy. If the path to your cdrom is /mnt/cdrom and the installation executable is called setup.exe, then the command would be: wine /mnt/cdrom/setup.exe

If the game uses the Installshield installer you must install DCOM98 first.
You can download it here.
Type wine dcom98.exe to install DCOM98.
Now the installer should work.

Running games

Just cd to the game directory in ~/.wine/c_drive and type wine gamename.exe to run it.

Note: The CVS version of WineX has no support for copy protection, so you will need a 'no-cd' patch if you want to play a game.
You can find these patches at http://www.megagames.com.
